Guided walking holiday

Walking

Spain • Andalucia • SubbÉtica Natural Park

Walkers in SubbÉtica Peonies and peregrines Following the paths of the old muleteers as well as routes of our own devising, we explore this rugged limestone country passing Neolithic caves with paintings, Moorish wells, goat farms and olive groves.
Some of our days

Arrival day
Leaving Málaga we arrive in Zuheros in time for an explore before a dinner of paella and local wine to remind you that you really have arrived in Spain.

Circuit of woody hill
This circular walk from our hotel provides an excellent first day of contrasting landscapes, with lichenclad evergreen oak woods, contoured muletracks and ancient farms.

Almond blossom in SubbÉtica

Luque, the bedstead walk
Passing great limestone crags and ancient Moorish wells, we cross the shoulder of the mountain, with its magnificent views of the distant sierra and Luque, our lunch stop beneath us.

Across the northern Subbética
Driving to the high point in the south we return home across the mountains. The route has a lovely open feel and the circling vultures keep an eye on us.

Free day
A great chance to visit Córdoba with its magnificent mosque, close by the fascinating Jewish quarter. For those who enjoy it there are many stylish shops and a vibrant café culture.

Cave of the bats and Zagrilla
After exploring the caves, we cross the high meadows, pass the cliffs of the vultures, and finally descend to the village of Zagrilla for refreshments.

Manuel's way
This popular walk takes us along and up a large escarpment. Then, with the village of Doña Mencía below, we return home via the olive groves beneath the mountains.

Departure day
After breakfast we return back to Málaga airport for 10.00.
