Guided walking holiday

Walking

Spain • Catalonia • Montsant Natural Park

Grau Barrots, Montsant Mountains and monasteries Cliffs and gorges create a dramatic landscape of pink and ochre and our routes offer a variety of terrain and make the most of the striking views. Along the way we visit historic walled towns rich in legend.
Some of our days

Arrival day
We arrive at our hotel in Prades in time to explore this walled village.

Hardwoods and hermitages
A circular walk from the hotel around Prades. Ascending the highest point, the Tossal de la Baltasana, we visit the beautiful hermitage of the Abellera.

Mule trails in the Motllats
In Capafonts, we discover a very different type of sierra – the Motllats. We follow old mule trails, discover caves and cross ancient stone bridges.

The push for Poblet
Our longest walk, but with a finish to remember forever. Just as it was for the ancient pilgrims, after crossing sierras and deep woods, we arrive to the sound of Gregorian chants at the great Cistercian Monastery of Poblet, one of the most famous in Europe.

Free day
An opportunity to visit the coastal Roman town of Tarragona.

Walkers in Monstant

The sacred mountain
Leaving Albarca we ascend to the highest point of Montsant and then follow the crest until our descent. On our return we visit the ruins of the monastery of Scala Dei.

The Abdelazia princess
From Prades, a gentle mountain walk takes us to the small village of Siurana. Over a traditional lunch, the legend of the Moorish princess is unveiled in this extraordinary and dramatic landscape.
