Moving through mountain hues To the south of the high Atlas lies the desert, but through this harsh landscape flow rivers that spring from the mountains. These busy irrigated valleys are green and abundant.

Some of our days

Sunday - Arrival day
Leaving Marrakech we arrive in Aît Ourir in time for dinner.

Monday
We cross the Atlas and arrive in the Valley of the Roses. Big landscapes and a wander through busy irrigated fields.

Tuesday
This is a day to unwind amidst the irrigated fields and perhaps join an optional walk through the gorges and villages. The hotel itself is a visual treat.

Wednesday
Within the Dades gorge the rocks create a purplish hue and with luck, dusk will create colours that last in your memory for years.

Thursday
Continuing west, we arrive at the Unesco World Heritage site of Aît Ben Haddou. After lunch, we visit the ancient town and kasbah, famed from many films. In the evening the old town boasts its colours.

Friday
This gentle day out takes us 4 miles up the river bed to an ancient and mostly abandoned kasbah. Nesting storks, bright fields, palms, almonds and peace make the day. Optional trip there and back by camel.

Saturday
Recrossing the Atlas we arrive in Marrakech in time to enjoy the late afternoon and evening in Jma el Fna. This is the time for candid imagery, snake charmers and the ever-present backlit smoke from the braziers.

Departure day
At the time of your choosing, a taxi will take you to your flight.

Note: Inevitably, there will be unplanned events as is the nature of an adventure. Hopefully we will have one or two musical evenings with musicians known to us. To maximise this holiday, you should be happy walking on uneven ground.
