Cats colours and craters This is a very special island, a land of myth and legend, with spectacular settings created by volcanic activity. There are many important archeological sites, a million opportunities for candid shots and sunsets over sparkling seas.

            Characterful cats will constantly weave their way in and out of your shots but ultimately it will be
            the quality of the light that will stay with you for ever.
        

Some of our days

Arrival day
After a very short journey from Thira to our hotel its time for the first of seven spectacular sunsets.

Discovery day
A brief tour of the island and our first view of some of the classic imagery – the volcanic caldera, white houses, bluedomed churches, sparkling seass and church bell towers.

Up to the top
A day exploring the inland villages of Vothonas, Pyrgos and Exo Gonia including a drive to the highest point on the island at Messa Vouno with its extraordinary views of the Aegean.

Free day
A chance to visit some exclusive shops in Thira, or take a short boat trip to the volcano in the centre of this ancient caldera.

Not forgetting the Vernacular
We spend the morning learning how to photograph vernacular architecture. Later we wander through the town of Thira and catch the sunset.

A long way back
We visit Akrotiri – the best-preserved prehistoric settlement in the Aegean. Later we visit Emborio with its flowerfilled fields and windmills before catching the sunset in Oia.

More wine
After a morning visiting a small vineyard with many photo opportunities we take a break before exploring Oia at night.

Departure day
With no distance to the airport there may be a final chance for a few dawn shots. After breakfast we depart for Thira airport.
