Painting holiday

Arrival day
Leaving Palma we arrive in Port de Soller in time for a pre-dinner wander along the sea front.

Gardens and groves
The Archduke's palace has terraces, gardens, grey green olive groves and a mock temple perched high above this Mallorcan Costa Brava – a magnificent vista leading the eye along the length of this wild northern coast.

Deia
Gathered around and below its church, this small village with its terraced fields and olive groves has long been popular with landscape artists. Picasso lived here and Robert Graves lies buried in its small churchyard.

Free day
This is an untutored day and your chance to visit Soller town on the wooden tram or take the old train through the mountains to Palma with its busy port, narrow back streets and beautiful cathedral.

Pueblo picturesque
Radiating from its square where we lunch, a network of stepped streets and alleys takes you around this most pretty of villages. With high views on one side and low angles from a tranquil grove on the other, there is no lack of subjects!

Fabulous Alfabia
Around a reliable water supply Moorish Viziers created this sheltered oasis of light and shade beneath palms and the scented vines of wisteria and jasmine. We picnic and paint to the accompaniment of gurgling fountains and a similarly reliable supply of fresh juice.

Beside the sea
Cala de Deia is one of few places on this wild coast where you can paint, picnic, bathe and visit a café just yards from an emerald sea. Its antique boatsheds and slipways above the swashing waves conjure up images of pirates and perhaps even memories of old Cornwall.

Departure day
After an early breakfast our coach will return you to Palma airport for 10.00.
