We have three painting holidays in Italy all offering almost an excess of artistic inspiration! Almost everywhere you turn there is yet another view that gets you reaching for your sketchpad...

New for 2009 is our Royal Watercolour Society holiday. This is a joint venture between Andalucian Adventures and the RWS making the most of our enormous experience in running these holidays and using two of their most experienced tutors. Additionally, Andalucian Adventures is donating £25 from each booking to the RWS. Based in Umbria, in a fortified hamlet close to Orvietto, this is a holiday not to miss.

Our other art holiday in Umbria, rightly known as Italy's 'green heart', equally offers no shortage of classic Italian images. We stay in the tiny medieval hilltop town of Montecastello di Vibio, close to Todi, with fine views across the surrounding landscape of tranquil river valleys, orchards, olive groves and slow-paced village scenes.

Our painting holiday in Tuscany is based in San Quirico d'Orcia, four miles from Pienza, in the heart of Southern Tuscany. We feel we could not be better placed. Every image we all have of Tuscany in our mind's eye is fulfilled here. Gently rolling green hills defined by cypress trees (surely artfully placed!) and crumbling farmhouses, medieval hilltop towns, olive groves, vineyards...

While painting in Umbria or Tuscany, the images that we have all seen captured in the background of many a Renaissance painting, are suddenly all around us – seemingly little changed.

All our tutors are chosen for their professionalism and experience in teaching different media including watercolour, pastel, acrylic, oils, mixed media and drawing. They are extremely committed and friendly and want the best for everyone. They teach for a total of 6-8 hours per day. However, this is a painting holiday so you are of course free to take as many breaks as you wish!
