"The future of Modern Art lies in the South of France" proclaimed
Van Gogh when he arrived here in 1888. Our painting holidays in France are based
in the same part of Provence that so captivated Van Gogh and many other artists.
Les Alpilles are a tiny mountain range tucked between Arles and Avignon, surrounded
by vineyards, olive groves and shade dappled Provencal villages.
This is an art holiday to remember – a week of dazzling light, varied textures of
exotic vegetation, shimmering white hills and colourful markets and villages bustling
with life and interest.
This compact corner of Provence has its own very strong identity making it markedly
different from the wider region. It has some of France's finest Roman remains and
the nearby, fortified village of Les Baux is France's most famous relic of medieval
troubadour Provence. History and legend combine here with a striking landscape and
brilliant, clear light to give a week we feel sure to enliven any jaded paint palette!
All our tutors are chosen for their professionalism and experience in teaching different
media including watercolour, pastel, acrylic, oils, mixed media and drawing. They
are extremely committed and friendly and want the best for everyone. They teach
for a total of 6-8 hours per day. However, this is a painting holiday so you are
of course free to take as many breaks as you wish!
