Our philosophy

I started Andalucian Adventures in 1997 because of a deep love of rural Spain, because of the kindness that had always been shown to me on my travels and because I wanted to share my love and excitement of this land with others.

As someone who had initiated many adventures amongst groups of friends, our holidays started off like this, and while I no longer lead the trips, and our destinations have expanded beyond Spain, I know all the leaders personally, and am involved in the detailing of each adventure.

In addition to Spain, our destinations now include Italy, Greece, Morocco, France and England and we offer painting and photography holidays as well as walking. However, our original philosophy remains unaltered, that is, to show our guests a side of the country that is both real and alive. To this end, we only use local leaders whose love for the area is infectious and whose local knowledge takes us a little deeper into the countries visited. Similarly, we use only locally owned, family run businesses.

Quite apart from giving our guests a more interesting and authentic holiday experience, this also maximizes the economic benefit of our trips to the local community. I believe strongly in tourism giving to as well as taking from countries and the concept of responsible tourism.

Guests stay in one hotel only for each of our weeks, partly because it is more relaxing, but primarily because over the course of a week they get to understand a little of the daily rituals of the villagers and thus end up a little less like tourists as they return to the same bars and restaurants in the evenings.

I believe strongly in paying a fair price for the services we use and to this end our leaders are the highest paid we know of in the industry and we pay the hotels a very fair rate.

We can't show you the world but we can introduce you to some very special places.
